Education
In 1925, Rachel Carson attended the Pennsylvania College for Women majoring in English. At that point she still had the ambition of becoming a writer. Midway through her studies Carson discovered her love for science and switched her focus to biology. Her first experience with marine work began at the U.S Marine Labratory, Woods Hole, Massachusetts. In 1929, she graduated from the Pennsylvania College for Women earning her undergraduate degree. She was then awarded a scholarship to complete her graduate work at Johns Hopkins University, Baltimore. This was a rather large accomplishment for a women in 1929. By 1932, Carson recieved her master's degree at Johns Hopkins.
